I'M Marlene Phipps
I am a digital mixed media artist. Over the years, my hobby has always been photography. As soon as photography went digital, I started working with various cameras. I concluded that the very best camera is the one I always have with me, my iPhone. Best of all, I love to edit photos and paint with pixels. My work consists of collage and composite techniques as well as digital painting. My art studio is just me working on my iPad.
Background
At the College of St Benedict, I majored in fine art, working in oil paints and clay. I went on to study commercial art and photography at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design.
I worked in the marketing field as a graphic designer and production artist for over 1o years. For over 30 years I helped to create happy careers for over 6000 creative professionals by connecting them to meaningful work in the company that I founded. Today I am quite happy making my art.

I use the tools of our times; an iPhone, iPadPro, Apple pencil and a MacBook Pro. The software I use is Adobe Photoshop, Procreate plus a handful of apps designed for the iPhone and iPad. I start out gathering up the digital imagery I want to use with my concept. Digital painting, collage and compositing techniques are how I put together my art work.
